Our Mission
The Winnipeg Library Foundation, Inc. is an independent philanthropic organization designed to cultivate support and raise funds for innovative, major projects of the Winnipeg Public Library.
The Winnipeg Library Foundation, Inc. is committed to supporting the library through partnerships with corporations, other foundations and individuals. Private financial support from the community enhances library programs and services beyond public resources.
Our Mandate
- To raise funds on behalf of the Winnipeg Public Library over and above those funds provided by the City of Winnipeg.
- To source out and raise funds from the Province of Manitoba and Government of Canada as may be required.
- To allocate funds to the Library, in consultation with the City and its appointed Boards and Committees, and respect the wishes of donors.
- To promote awareness of the importance and value of the library to the community.
- To bring value to the library.
The Winnipeg Library Foundation strives to achieve the best in its public-private partnership with the City of Winnipeg by funding programs of enrichment beyond the means of public resources. We offer individuals and businesses meaningful, measurable returns for their contributions to our community through increased literacy, brighter students, greater access to information technology and improved college or career planning.
Community support helps the Foundation launch new library programs and expands existing services, enhancing the quality of library programming for everyone.
